Dealing with post-election stress

The 2024 Presidential Election is now officially over, leaving many people around America with tons of stress and worries about the future of our country. While the results are set in stone, the way you deal with them is completely up to you. Here are our tips for relieving the stress you might be feeling right now.

  1. Process

This is an extremely hard, but necessary, step. You’re probably feeling millions of emotions, which can be suffocating and hard to face. However, you have to allow yourself to understand how you feel. Experiencing each emotion is so important to help you move forward. Write them down in a journal, and let yourself reflect on everything completely- you’ll begin to feel the mix of emotions lessen, and you’ll come back to a more peaceful state of mind.

2. Put down your phone

Take a break from social media. If your mind is already consumed by stress, overtaking it with millions of opinions, new information, and scary predictions online is guaranteed to only make it worse. The best thing you can do for yourself is be in the present, and that starts with staying off of your phone.

3. Be grateful

Go for a walk. Spend time with your loved ones. Read a book. Paint. Sing. While your life may seem like it is heading in a direction you never thought it would, know that everything will be completely fine. Appreciate what and who you have in your life right now. Know that staying grounded and grateful will get you through anything, no matter how hard it may seem.

4. Take Action

Winning a fight will never be easy. There will always be setbacks, and there is always a reason that people are motivated to make a difference. The most important things in life are setbacks, because they make people (and countries) what they end up becoming. Let this election show that the people of America who are focused on the well-being of our country will not give up, and will only push harder to achieve peace and change in the US. You can, and should, always make a difference when you want something to change. Spend your time fighting for what you believe in, and making a positive difference in the world. Understand your priorities, and then get to work and do everything you can to achieve your goals.
